Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH)
- Downtime Procedure Development
Developed the first standardized downtime procedure framework for BSWH, reducing risk and ensuring regulatory readiness across the hospital network.
Baylor Scott & White Health partnered with Vetera to address patient safety, compliance, and continuity risks during extended IT outages. The project involved designing and piloting a system-wide Downtime Procedure Framework, including Hospital-Wide Workflow (HWW) procedures for critical services like medication administration and imaging. Stone Risk developed asset-specific downtime procedures, created role-based job aids for clinical staff, and standardized supply requirements. A scalable Central Downtime Supply Cache was introduced, along with clear governance criteria and communication protocols. The initiative resulted in reduced risk, enhanced staff readiness, and alignment with Joint Commission and CMS expectations.
